This September, our happy hour was sponsored by Homeslice Pizza in South Austin!
Home Slice Pizza is a decidedly “Austin” neighborhood pizza joint serving authentic NY-style pizza—by the pie or by the slice. It is located in the heart of South Congress, among all the funky shops and hangouts that make south Austin so unique. We were invited to sample their new Sicilian offerings– namely, their uber-deep dish, square pizzas. Aren’t we just so lucky to be the guinea pigs for their new Monday-night offering?
They served us a sampling of their sicilian pizzas, antipasto platters, caprese salad and heavenly cannolis rolled in crushed pistachios.
They also provided us with some delicious wine pairings to sample all night. My favorite was the Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, a refreshing, crisp white Italian wine. Definitley a crowd pleaser, this wine would complement a wide variety of foods and was perfect for our al-fresco gathering. Very impressive for a house wine if you ask me!
Homeslice’s backyard was a perfect space for our group. Perched up on slight hill behind the restaurant, we mingled around picnic and moveable patio tables. We enjoyed the buffet from the pingpong table whose net adorably proclaims “In Crust We Trust.” Homeslice is both family-friendly and perfect for hanging out with friends.
Our monthly happy hours are very special to the alliance. It gives bloggers the chance to come out from behind their cameras and laptops, without aprons on, to enjoy some laid-back foodie fellowship.
Held on the last Wednesday of every month, these happy hours are hosted at a new location each time. This gives bloggers the opportunity to explore the buzz-invoking establishments all around Austin! The locations and dates are posted in the AFBA newsletter and as a Facebook event on the AFBA member page.
We are always looking for a unique adventure where we can connect as fellow bloggers, but most importantly, as friends.
The Austin Food Blogger Alliance is a wonderful partership for anyone interested in promoting their brand or restaurant. With 160+ food-savvy, social media experts who are constantly Instagramming, Tweeting and blogging about everything they do, joining forces with us is an excellend opportunity for all.
