Want to get to know food bloggers outside of Austin? We’re partnering with a group of Boston Food Bloggers to pair individual food bloggers from Austin with those in Boston for a gift swap just in time for the holiday season!
If you’re a member of the Austin Food Blogger Alliance and you’re interested in participating, send an email by Tuesday, Nov. 15 to media@austinfoodbloggers.org with your full name, URL of your blog, twitter handle (if applicable), home mailing address, and phone number.
Boston Food Bloggers can learn more about how to get involved here. Participants will be paired up on a first come, first served basis, and if matched, will receive contact information for their swapping partner within that week.
Each pair should then contact each other to get to know one another, and share information on food allergies, likes, dislikes, etc.
Participants are encouraged to start getting their package together starting in November and to send it out by Dec. 15 at the latest. Packages should cost the sender no more than $30 and participants can send as many or as few items as they would like. Some ideas include homemade gifts, books, decorative items, or local food specialties. Make sure to include a note – maybe explaining what’s in the box, sharing a memory related to the contents, or sending a favorite recipe.
Participants may post about the experience at any time, and while writing a blog post is not required, it is encouraged. Please do send us a link to your blog posts if you write them and we will share in a wrap up blog post and on social media.
Throw your hat in the ring to participate by sending an email to media@austinfoodbloggers.org by November 15. And most importantly, have fun with it! The official hashtag for the Austin to Boston Food Swap is #atxbos.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment here, or send us a tweet @atxfoodblogs or a message on our Facebook page or members-only FB group.

Update: We now have 16 participants in both Austin and Boston. Looking forward to more joining us. Lots of great blogs and interesting people in both cities. We’re excited!
I love this idea! I just signed up, so I hope at least one more signs up from Boston. I wonder if they can send us some snow?
I am so jazzed. A little cultural exchange program over food. I can’t think of anything more fun for the holidays. Thanks so much for working it out!
We now have over 50 participants from both Boston and Austin joining us for the swap. The deadline to sign up was yesterday and we’ll send emails to match you guys by this weekend!
So I really hope that, if you live in the Boston area, or are willing to travel, I will finally get a chance to meet some of you.
